Moto Guzzi with a modified P2

The windscreen & hood are not original. The front seat was removed and the large opening in the front lid that normally accomodates that seat was filled with a plywood board, effectivelly converting this P2 into a P1!

This same modified Moturist P2 is now owned by Herman Buurveld from Heerhugowaard. He rigged it to his Moto Guzzi Le Mans.
Three pictures below are from the excellent picture galleries of "boxGuzzi", a web site created by Herman van den Berg. I tried to link directly to them, but that didn't work, so I made a link to the boxGuzzi homepage and took the liberty to download the pics and show them here.

Yamaha XS 1100S Moturist P1
Nolda & Richard Assink sent me this picture of their Yamaha XS 1100 S with modified Moturist P1.The original windscreen was replaced by a lower one made of Lexan. The torsion spring and schock absorber were replaced by a hollow axle filled with rubber and a Suzuki Alto drumbrake was installed.

Henk Verbeek's Moturist / Kawa Z1000ST Henk Verbeek sent me these pictures of his -clearly very experienced- Moturist sidecar rigged to a Kawa Z1000ST. Henk writes: "I still have lots of fun with the "old carcass" , even though I also own a rather more modern combination: a Suzuki GSX 1100F with a Boxer sidecar."

Below are two pictures of a beautiful BMW-Moturist P1 rig that I spotted in August 2009 at the annual Oldtimerday in the Dutch village Ruinerwold. The owner told me that the combination had recently been spraypainted. I think the result looks great. The sidecar windscreen was homemade from a sheet of plexiglass using a mold and two hairdryers.

Ed Wiersema mailed me some pictures of a modified Moturist P1 sidecar, which now seats two passengers side by side. This is actually very much against the philosophy of Ed Pols, who maintained that sidecar passengers are safest most comfortable when they are well supported from both sides by a relatively narrow seat. That is why he developed the Moturist P2 and P3 sidecar bodies, which seat multiple passengers behind each other and not side by side.

Below are two more pictures by Ed Wiersema, showing a Moturist P1 modified to fit a Moto Guzzi SP wind screen.
